Vampire Weekend – Modern Vampires of the City: A 43 minute long bipolar episode

Rating: 8/10

Vampire Weekend’s critically acclaimed third studio album Modern Vampires of the City is one of the best American products of 2013. However it can best be described as a 43 minute long rock/pop bipolar episode: where the highs are manically high and the lows depressingly low. Either way you will be singing and/ or swaying along to the repetitive, catchy hooks and well-timed, diverse beats.

The speed of the four-piece’s music might vary, yet beautiful vocals and saintly harmonies singing wicked lyrics is a constant and found in all 12 songs.

This is an album worth buying, as it is not enough to occasionally hear the album’s hit singles Diane Young and Step whilst listening to the radio.

The album bears the title of Best Alternative music Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
